Hello friends. It's been a couple of weeks since my last post. Lots of stuff happened in that time (visits from Carolyn as well as Debbie and Dana) but I have been so tired/weak that I'm still sleeping 12 hours or more per day. This past Sunday was the worst with extreme nausea added to the mix. Yesterday was spent almost entirely in bed/on the couch. Finally feeling better today (not feeling good mind you, just better) and will try to get out and walk the dogs since it is gorgeous outside. I'll need a nap afterwards but I think I will enjoy the walk and I know the dogs will. Hooray for sunshine!
Had fun making Valentine's cookies with both Amy Beth (see pics) and Carolyn. Looking forward to making more soon - St. Pat's is coming up and I do have a clover cookie cutter. :)
Amy Hawley makes a return visit this week, I'm excited to have her back for a few days. I'm hoping I can be awake for more than 50% of her visit.
In other health news, my doctor has decided to change the chemo schedule from twice every three weeks to once every other week. This means less time at the cancer center getting chemo - very nice! Hopefully the tumors remain in check on this decreased schedule but they are being monitored via CT scans so I'm confident that Dr. Khan knows what she's doing and will continue to take good care of me. I should bring her and Brigitte (her PA) some cookies...
I have mentioned this before but it bears repeating: David Taffner is the most amazing partner anyone can ask for. He has been taking such good care of me that I get teary just thinking about how this would be so much different if I was on my own. One small thing that he does every night is warm up my side of the bed while I brush my teeth. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE slipping into a pre-warmed bed. Who wouldn't? He does lots of stuff for me but it's these little touches, not asked for, that show how thoughtful he really is. Thanks to John & Dorothy for raising such a great guy!
One last thing. How boring/tedious was that Oscars ceremony? At least we have answered the question, "Is there anything James Franco can't do?" I actually do like JF overall (though I have NO intention of seeing 127 Hours) but he should not be asked back as host. What did you guys think?

Both of you are amazing and I am so honored to be able to have you as friends. Great job with those cookies; I really like the combination of colors you chose for decorating. I'm looking forward to seeing the clovers! ♣♣♣
ReplyDeleteHope you made it out for a walk today- it really feels like spring is on the wing.
♥ to you both
You're right about both Dave and James F. I hope you ate a cookie for all of us.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only one who got weepy thinking of the awesomeness that is Dave.
ReplyDeleteI actually have a lot to say about the Oscars. Quit trying for the young (by which they just mean males, age 18-35) viewers. We appreciate more movies as we get older. The movies "youth" tend to be interested in are more about blowing stuff up than about story, and those movies are only nominated for specialized categories. Second thought--if you want to attract young viewers, don't let Billy Crystal make jokes about Bob Hope. 'Nuf said, I think?
Love to you both and enjoy the sunshine.
xoxo--abe
I'm right there with ya, AmyBeth! And no offense to Kirk Douglas but he does *not* attract the young, hipsters and his whole shtick was just painful.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling a bit better, the sun really does help, doesnt it? While I agree that my brother is amazing and John & Dorothy did quite well raising a good man, I have no doubt that you are equally amazing and would take great care with him if the tables were turned. That's what we do for the people we love. Love to you both!
ReplyDeleteYeah Dave T!
